Searchpath @ The University of Michigan is a self-paced Web tutorial developed by Shapiro Undergraduate Library staff. It is designed as an introduction to research at the University Library.

There are seven 15- to 20-minute modules that can be used separately to explore various aspects of research. They can be reviewed individually or as a sequence. The modules are:

• Starting Smart: Comparing general Web resources to Library resources
• Choosing a Topic: Topic selection and how to identify keywords
• Finding Books: How to search Mirlyn, the library catalog of the University of Michigan
• Finding Articles: How to use article indexes to identify articles on a given subject
• Using the Web: How to use and evaluate web sites
• Citing Sources: How to cite sources, avoid plagiarism, and comply with copyright guidelines
• Researching Subjects: How to begin research in anthropology, psychology, science, and art & design.
